Automotive technology is always changing and, recently, the transmission has been a focus of increasing fuel efficiency. It wasn't that long ago that the continuously variable transmission, or CVT, was implemented in many cars as a more efficient alternative to a true automatic, but Honda has some new plans. Recently they filed a patent for an 11-speed transmission with three clutches and it sounds exciting.
More gears, generally, means better efficiency and an 11-speed transmission would be pretty economic! Add to this the three clutches for faster gear shifts and you'll get a more captivating and thrilling ride as you pass the pumps. We don't have any info on when it will be implemented, or what vehicles will implement it, but we'll be sure to keep you updated as info arises.
For the time being, we'd love nothing more than to show you something from our lineup of stylish and affordable new Honda models!
